Dry Eye

Dry eye occurs when a person’s natural tear film is not adequate to both lubricate and provide nutrients and oxygen to the eye. Dry eye is one of the most common ocular conditions and affects millions of Americans every year. There are many causes of dry eye and with increased screen time becoming the norm, dry eye is becoming even more common.

Dry eye symptoms include but are not limited to:

  • Scratchy/gritty/sandy feeling eyes
  • Burning
  • Redness
  • Foreign Body sensation(feeling like something is stuck in your eye)
  •  Excessive tearing
  • Vision that gets blurry but clears or changes with blinking

You may have one, some, or none of these symptoms if you have dry eye. These symptoms are also not unique to dry eye, so it is important to have a thorough dry eye evaluation if you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms.
