Children's Vision

We examine children over 5 years of age and give your child the safest eyewear to help them see their best. Our prescribing philosophy is conservative; so glasses won't be recommended for your child unless they will be of significant benefit.

We have a large selection of children’s frames as well as smaller-sized adult frames which many children choose to wear. Your child’s lenses will be made of virtually indestructible polycarbonate lenses which also protect their eyes from the harmful UV rays of the sun.

Even if your child has passed a school vision screening or tells you their vision is "clear", they should be checked periodically, especially if they are not doing well in school. Problems other than clarity of sight (“20/20 vision”) can affect learning, such as how easily your child focuses to keep print clear, how they track their eyes to read lines of print and how their eyes align to keep their vision single and to well in motor activities. You may be surprised to learn that nearly 50% of students in special education still have some type of vision issue that affects their learning!
